The Art Basel and UBS Survey of Global Collecting 2026 reveals Gen Z as the highest-spending generation

This year's survey explores how high-net-worth collectors begin building their collections, highlighting the influence of family, rise in younger generations' purchasing activity, evolving attitudes toward privacy, and the growing use of digital and AI-enabled tools for researching their purchases

NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Art Basel and UBS Survey of Global Collecting 2026 by Arts Economics, reveals fresh insights into the evolving behaviors and motivations of high-net-worth (HNW) collectors. Conducted by Arts Economics in collaboration with UBS, the survey draws on responses from 3,100 HNW individuals across 10 key markets: the US, UK, Mainland China, Hong Kong, France, Australia, Germany, Japan, Brazil and Singapore.

Dr Clare McAndrew, Founder, Arts Economics: "This research let us look beyond what high-net-worth collectors buy to how they use their collections and what really matters to them about owning art. Attitudes towards privacy and access varied widely, challenging some established assumptions. Many purchases are driven less by the conspicuous consumption traditionally linked to the market than by a desire to build connections within close networks, where status comes less from price than from rarity, provenance, originality, and discovery. Restricting access does not remove a collection's signaling power; exclusivity can be part of the signal. Perhaps surprisingly, the youngest collectors were the most private, both in person and online. Gen Z collectors were the least likely to share details of their collections publicly online, preferring invitation-only spaces, with privacy central to their personal and cultural identity."

John Mathews, Head of Private Wealth Management for the Americas at UBS: "The Art Basel and UBS Survey of Global Collecting 2026 by Arts Economics highlights how collecting is becoming increasingly connected to broader family and wealth planning in the United States. With 86% of US collectors having inherited artworks and significant numbers planning family gifts and charitable donations, collections are increasingly being viewed through a multi-generational lens. Collectors are thinking not only about what they acquire today, but about the cultural, philanthropic and family impact those collections can have in the future."

Key findings of the survey:

- Gen Z emerges as the highest-spending generation of HNW collectors: In 2025 and the first half of 2026, Gen Z spent more on fine art than any other generation surveyed, with spending levels more than twice as high as those of older generations. Gen Z also made up nearly half of all collectors buying artworks priced above USD 1 million in 2026.

- Family remains an important foundation for collecting: The survey offers the first dedicated analysis of how HNW collectors begin building their collections and finds that family is the most common route to starting a collection. While 28% of collectors reported family as their primary route into collecting, the share rose significantly to 40% among Gen Z. Almost 90% of Gen Z collectors who inherited works retained them, underscoring the enduring role of family legacy in shaping collections across generations.

- Uniqueness and rarity stands out as the leading priority in owning art: Across generations, uniqueness and rarity ranked as the most important aspects of ownership (43%), ahead of owning works respected by experts (23%) or owning something admired in collector circles (22%). Uniqueness mattered more to Gen Z collectors (48% versus 38% of Baby Boomers).

- Collectors have become strongly research-driven in their purchasing decisions: 72% of HNW collectors conducted moderate or significant independent research before purchasing art, up from 62% in 2025, and rising to 80% among Gen Z collectors.

- Digital sources and AI-enabled research tools continue to gain ground: 58% of HNW collectors used online resources for advice and recommendations, while the use of apps and AI tools rose to 22%, up from 4% in 2024.

- Collectors continue to diversify their interests across art and collectibles: Fine art accounted for 33% of total spending across art and collectibles categories in 2026. Gen Z collectors were the highest spenders across virtually every category and, together with boomers, displayed the broadest collecting interests, with 42% of Gen Z collectors and 39% of Baby Boomers purchasing across at least two additional collecting categories outside of fine and decorative art in the last year.

- Philanthropy and legacy planning remain important priorities: The report found that 23% of HNW collectors said they planned to donate works to museums in the coming year, while many others said they intended to support artist prizes, residencies, foundations, or private museums. Family legacy continues to play a central role in both building and preserving collections, with many collectors focused on passing collections to future generations.

DoubleZero Adds Binance Market Data to Edge
Original HTML

Normalized top-of-book and trades for all spot and futures Binance markets, delivered on the same Edge subscription traders and firms already use for Solana, Kalshi, Hyperliquid, and Phoenix.

NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- DoubleZero Foundation today announced that market data from all Binance spot and futures markets is now live on DoubleZero Edge, which delivers market data via multicast over dedicated fiber. Binance is the first centralized exchange on Edge and its fifth venue, after Solana, Kalshi, Hyperliquid, and Phoenix.

Binance is one of the largest sources of crypto price discovery, so its order flow moves markets well beyond its own. Edge brings Binance market data together with onchain data from Solana and Hyperliquid and prediction-market data from Kalshi into a single normalized feed, so firms get everything from one subscription instead of maintaining a separate integration for each venue. Edge carries real-time signal over DoubleZero's high-performance dedicated fiber network, giving traders in any region faster access from wherever they trade.

"Binance is one of the few venues where price discovery happens, and Edge puts that signal in front of traders, wherever they are in the world." said Austin Federa, Co-founder of DoubleZero. "Every new venue on Edge means one less integration a trading team has to build and maintain, today is just another example of what seamless trading infrastructure feels like."

Binance on DoubleZero Edge: tech specs

- Markets: Binance spot, and futures

- Data: top-of-book and trades, all symbols on each feed

- Source: ingested in Tokyo, delivered by multicast over DoubleZero's dedicated fiber

- Format: normalized to the same schema as Solana, Kalshi, Hyperliquid, and Phoenix, so code written for one venue works on all five

- Access: live today with an existing Edge subscription at: doublezero.xyz/binance.

The launch marks another milestone for DoubleZero Edge, which went live in April and has added five venues in six months, with 2000+ user connections to date. The DoubleZero project was co-founded in 2024 by Austin Federa, Andrew McConnell, and Mateo Ward. The project is supported by DoubleZero Foundation that raised $28 million in a token round co-led by Multicoin Capital and Dragonfly Capital in 2025. The DoubleZero network launched in mainnet-beta in October 2025.

About DoubleZero

DoubleZero is a protocol that enables a global fiber network for high-performance data distribution. Powered by independent fiber contributors and coordinated onchain, DoubleZero delivers low-latency networking and real-time data infrastructure for blockchains, prediction markets and other distributed systems where milliseconds matter. TRUMP SAYS IRAN COULD "TAKE OUT" LOS ANGELES AND SAN DIEGO CalExit Warns California Legislators and Californians to Take Growing Threats to Major Cities, Elections and Presidential Succession Seriously

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- President Trump told a Nebraska rally that Iran could "take out Los Angeles" and "take out San Diego," describing the destruction as a "small price to pay." Trump supporters cheered wildly, while condemnation from elected republicans remains virtually nonexistent.

CalExit advises Californians to pay close attention.

For nearly two years, CalExit has warned that developments once dismissed as politically inconceivable were moving steadily into the realm of possibility.

Weeks away from the scheduled contest, the conduct of 2026 midterm elections remains seriously in doubt.

Peter Ticktin, Trump's former military-school classmate, longtime attorney, and closest outside adviser, has publicly discussed presidential intervention and martial law around Election Day.

CalExit warns of a possible sequence in which emergency authority is invoked, federal forces are deployed, and curfews, arrests, restricted movement, or other emergency measures make normal voting an unobtainable outcome.

The question is simple: How does the USA conduct a fair national election with major population centers operating under emergency military restrictions?

CalExit has also warned that Americans should not assume a conventional transfer of presidential power whether in 2028, or before.

In February 2025, CalExit Political Director J.J. Ames raised the possibility that Trump could seek to preserve presidential power within his family. Rachel Maddow has now publicly echoed the CalExit concern.

The constitutional pathway is straightforward.

If the vice presidency became vacant for any reason, Trump could nominate Donald Trump Jr., subject to simple majority confirmation by both Houses of Congress. If Trump then left office, for medical or other reasons, Trump Jr. would become President and could nominate Eric Trump to fill the vacant vice presidency.

Before Californians declare this a total fantasy; who among us foresaw a sitting president all but inviting an active adversary to destroy American cities? In truth, every constitutional mechanism required to establish a North Korean-style family dictatorship is already in place.

"We warned Californians not to confuse unprecedented with unrealistic, nor implausible with impossible," said Ames. "These distinctions may soon become the most important we have ever faced."

CalExit believes California must prepare now for every lawful contingency affecting its people, its elections, and its future.

ABOUT CALEXIT

CalExit advocates for the lawful and peaceful separation of California from the United States and the creation of a sovereign California. J.J. Ames is a political scientist with advanced and terminal degrees in political science and political management, decades of experience in Washington, DC, five years teaching American Federal Government at the University-level, and the author of a Joint Resolution being considered for introduction into the CA General Assembly and CA Senate.

California Waste Solutions Expands Global Environmental Investment With More Than Half a Billion Dollars Proposed for Waste-to-Energy Project

Oakland recycler California Waste Solutions anchors U.S. operations while expanding waste infrastructure and environmental technology in Vietnam through Vietnam Waste Solutions

OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- California Waste Solutions, Inc. is extending its environmental work across the Pacific, pairing recycling operations in Oakland and San Jose with large-scale waste infrastructure and technology investment in Vietnam through its wholly owned subsidiary, Vietnam Waste Solutions.

The approach follows the operating principle that has guided the company since David Duong founded California Waste Solutions in Oakland in 1992 with eight used collection trucks. That principle centers on investing in systems that protect public health and recover value from waste.

"Investing heavily in the places you operate is one of the core differentiators of California Waste Solutions and its Vietnamese subsidiary. It's not just something we do: it's part of our core values," said David Duong, Founder and CEO of California Waste Solutions.

These investments reflect the long-term vision of David Duong, founder and owner of California Waste Solutions and Vietnam Waste Solutions: to build environmental infrastructure that serves cities today while preparing for their future needs. Since establishing California Waste Solutions in Oakland in 1992, David Duong has developed a business spanning municipal recycling in California and integrated waste treatment in Vietnam. His approach connects investment in collection and processing with systems that recover materials, reuse treated water and generate electricity from waste. At Da Phuoc, the proposed waste-to-energy facility would extend that work through additional treatment capacity and energy recovery. Together with the Green Environmental Technology Park, it carries David Duong's vision into projects intended to support Vietnam's urban growth and long-term environmental needs.

U.S. Operating Base

Headquartered in Oakland, California Waste Solutions serves more than 343,000 customers across Oakland and San Jose and operates six Bay Area recycling facilities. The company provides collection, processing, material recovery, customer service and municipal recycling programs, including household battery and used-motor-oil collection and multilingual recycling education.

It continues to invest in sorting technology and facility capacity in California, including optical sorting in San Jose, artificial-intelligence scanning in Oakland, and the expansion of curbside household battery collection to San José homes. The company enters its thirty-fifth year in business next year.

"Thirty-five years is not just about how much the company has grown," Duong said. "It is about the employees who helped build it, the cities that trusted us and the communities that gave our family an opportunity to build a new life in America. Our responsibility is to keep earning that trust."

Da Phuoc Integrated Waste Treatment Complex

Through Vietnam Waste Solutions, California Waste Solutions operates the Da Phuoc Integrated Waste Treatment Complex on 128 hectares in Ho Chi Minh City. It is the only waste treatment facility in Vietnam that applies sanitary landfill technology in accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards. Designed with a capacity of up to 10,000 tons per day, equivalent to approximately 70% of Ho Chi Minh City's municipal solid waste, Da Phuoc Integrated Waste Treatment Complex currently receives approximately 4,500 to 5,000 tons per day, based on the city's waste allocation.

Da Phuoc runs as a closed-loop system under strict environmental controls. Infrastructure includes:

- A landfill gas-to-energy plant that collects methane through wells in the sanitary landfill and delivers it by pipeline to gas handling systems. The plant can generate up to 12 megawatts, supplying power for operations at the complex.

- A leachate treatment plant with capacity of 3,000 cubic meters per day, using a membrane bioreactor that combines biological treatment with membrane filtration. It was the first facility in Vietnam to apply this technology and is equipped with automatic, continuous, real-time wastewater monitoring. Treated water is reused for onsite irrigation and for washing waste-collection vehicles.

- A sorting and recycling plant with capacity of 600 tons per day, together with compost production from organic waste.

Helping Vietnam Achieve Net Zero By 2050

In line with the government's roadmap for a green transition and a circular economy, Vietnam Waste Solutions is in the stages of applying for permits to expand its waste-to-energy systems. The plan is expected to contribute meaningfully to helping Vietnam achieve its net zero target of 2050.

The new waste-to-energy project is planned as a new investment, separate from capital already committed to the existing Da Phuoc complex. It is expected to require a total investment of more than half a billion dollars, with processing capacity of 3,000 tons per day and electricity generation of 60 megawatts, using advanced technologies from G7 and G8 countries. The project aims to reduce ash and residue remaining after incineration to about 5 percent, a target that depends on advanced incineration technology and tight operating controls. The remaining ash and residue will then be recycled into construction materials and other supplementary fuels.

The project has completed the documentation, technical and financial planning, and technology selection stages. Once investment-policy approval is received, construction is expected to begin, with the project becoming operational within 18 to 24 months, supporting Ho Chi Minh City's Net Zero 2030 goal and the city's near-term waste-treatment needs.

Vietnam Waste Solutions also plans to excavate, sort and process waste already stored at the landfill, then cap the site and rehabilitate the surface for a mixed-use ecological park for the local community.

"The visionary leadership of Ho Chi Minh City is building an environmentally sound future, and it's a great pleasure to work with them on these objectives, especially with the economy so strong right now," said Michael Duong, President of California Waste Solutions. "We are really excited about the new waste-to-energy plant expansion, having already proved that it works at a much smaller level over the past few years for our own plant."

The company is also preparing to transfer sorting and recovery practices used in California, including AI- and robotics-assisted recycling, to raise material recovery and processing standards in Vietnam. At Da Phuoc, high-capacity drones for sanitation and odor control are scheduled to begin operation in October 2026, spraying biological treatment products across the landfill and reducing workers' direct exposure to treatment chemicals.

Green Environmental Technology Park

Beyond Da Phuoc, Vietnam Waste Solutions is advancing the Green Environmental Technology Park, a 1,760-hectare project licensed in 2015 and planned as a Vietnam–U.S. Green Industrial Technology Complex. The project is designed to connect waste treatment with high-tech manufacturing, clean energy, telecommunications, environmental infrastructure and an internal cargo transshipment port, rather than function as a conventional land lease.

The aim is to build a U.S.-standard investment environment in Vietnam that helps tenants lower operating costs and meet ESG requirements. Plans also include high-quality housing and vocational schools to support a skilled local workforce. Infrastructure work has begun, with further investment to follow the approved roadmap and investment policy, tied to development across Vietnam's Southern Key Economic Region.

Taken together, the California facilities and the Vietnam projects are meant to show the same standard at two scales: proven municipal recycling at home, and long-cycle environmental infrastructure abroad.

"California Waste Solutions started locally, but has expanded globally over the years, and significant investment has gone into the maintaining the same high standards we started out with in Oakland at the start of our journey," said company founder David Duong. "Waste went from something no one wanted to talk about when we started out more than a quarter-century ago to something that now, everyone wants to talk about because they realize that how you handle it affects the environment in such a critical way. We are really proud to be one of the first in that respect, who saw it before many others did."

About California Waste Solutions

Founded in 1992 by David Duong, California Waste Solutions provides recycling collection, processing, customer service, and material recovery for residential, commercial, and municipal customers in Northern California, including Oakland and San José. Through its subsidiary Vietnam Waste Solutions, the company also operates large-scale environmental infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City. Headquarters: 1211 Embarcadero, Suite 300, Oakland, CA 94606. www.calwaste.com.

About Vietnam Waste Solutions

Vietnam Waste Solutions is the wholly owned Vietnamese subsidiary of California Waste Solutions and operator of the Da Phuoc Integrated Solid Waste Facility serving Ho Chi Minh City. Da Phuoc Integrated Solid Waste Facility (DPI) was developed as Vietnam's first sanitary landfill modeled on U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards. Existing operations include sanitary landfill management, recycling and material recovery, composting, leachate and wastewater treatment, treated-water reuse, landfill-gas collection and electricity generation. VWS is advancing the proposed 60-megawatt Da Phuoc waste-to-energy project and continues development of the Long An Green Environmental Technology Park.

AblePay Health Raises $20 Million Series A to Accelerate Growth and Expand Healthcare Affordability Solutions

F-Prime leads financing, with participation from A1 Health Ventures and .406 Ventures, to help AblePay reach more health systems and patients nationwide

ALLENTOWN, Pa., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AblePay Health ("AblePay"), a healthcare affordability company focused on helping patients better manage out-of-pocket medical costs while improving payment performance for providers, today announced the completion of a $20 million Series A financing led by F-Prime, with participation from A1 Health Ventures and .406 Ventures.

The investment will support AblePay's continued growth, deepen its technology platform, and expand the company's services for both patients and providers as it positions itself at the forefront of solving healthcare's affordability challenges.

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Americans paid $591 billion out of pocket for healthcare in 2025, an increase of 6% from the prior year. For patients, rising costs can make an already complicated healthcare experience even harder to manage. For providers, more of the revenue they have earned depends on the patient's ability and willingness to pay, making the financial experience increasingly important to both the patient relationship and revenue cycle performance.

"Healthcare affordability affects both sides of the bill," said John Fistner, Founder and CEO of AblePay Health. "Patients need a better way to manage the cost of care, and providers need a better way to collect the revenue they have already earned. AblePay was designed to address those needs and ten years later, that is what still drives us.

Today, only a fraction of that burden is served by any third-party financing solution, leaving millions of patients and the health systems that treat them, exposed to an escalating, largely unaddressed problem. This investment gives us the opportunity to reach more health systems, help more patients, and continue building on a model that works for both."

Using a proprietary technology-enabled platform, AblePay uniquely and seamlessly integrates with healthcare providers to guarantee non-recourse payment on an accelerated, predictable timeline. Enrolled patients receive flexible payment options with the opportunity to save on their out-of-pocket responsibility with free access to AblePay's Advocacy Team to assist with billing questions or issues.

AblePay is redefining what a modern, technology-driven approach to patient financial engagement can look like.

"AblePay has built a differentiated model that addresses a significant market pain point for both healthcare providers and patients," said Nikhil Marathe, Principal at F-Prime. "The company combines a compelling patient value proposition with meaningful financial and operational benefits for healthcare organizations. We are excited to partner with John and the AblePay team alongside A1 Health Ventures and .406 Ventures as the company enters its next stage of growth."

The investment comes as AblePay enters its second decade of growth. The additional capital will help the company expand its reach, strengthen its capabilities, and continue developing solutions that make the healthcare payment experience simpler and more affordable for patients while delivering stronger financial outcomes for providers.

AblePay Health is a healthcare affordability and patient engagement company dedicated to helping patients save on out-of-pocket medical expenses while supporting health systems and providers with improved revenue performance and higher patient satisfaction. Ribo Submits European Clinical Trial Application for Phase Ⅰ Study of INHBE-Targeting siRNA RBD3133

SUZHOU, China and MÖLNDAL, Sweden, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Suzhou Ribo Life Science (06938.HK) and its subsidiary Ribocure Pharmaceuticals AB (collectively referred to as "Ribo") announced the successful submission of a Phase Ⅰ Clinical Trial Application (CTA) in EU for RBD3133, a novel siRNA therapeutic targeting INHBE (inhibin subunit beta E), with overweight and obesity as its intended future therapeutic indications.

Obesity has become one of the world's most significant public health challenges, affecting more than one billion people globally and contributing to a substantial burden of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other obesity-related comorbidities. Despite recent advances in obesity treatment, there remains a significant need for innovative therapies that address the underlying biology of metabolic dysfunction and provide durable clinical benefit.

RBD3133 is designed to selectively silence INHBE, a gene encoding the protein activin E. Human genetic studies have demonstrated that individuals carrying naturally occurring loss-of-function variants in INHBE exhibit healthier fat distribution, improved metabolic characteristics, and lower estimated risk of coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes. These findings support INHBE as a promising therapeutic target for obesity and related metabolic diseases.

The Phase Ⅰ study is a randomized, placebo-controlled trial designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of subcutaneously administered RBD3133 in participants with overweight or obesity. The trial will provide the first assessment of RBD3133 in humans and will establish the foundation for further clinical development.

"This CTA submission represents another clear step forward for our cardiometabolic pipeline and highlights our ability to translate compelling human genetic evidence into innovative RNAi medicines." said Dr. Anders Gabrielsen, Chief Medical Officer of Ribo.

The RBD3133 represents a pivotal step of Ribo's siRNA development portfolio in the field of cardiovascular and metabolic disease and is poised to serve as a cornerstone drug for the treatment of weight-loss-related cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. As Ribo's first candidate drug in the obesity therapeutic area, RBD3133 reflects the company's strategic focus on developing innovative medicines for large patient populations with substantial unmet medical need.

Non-GAAP Financial Measures

The Company discusses a key financial measure that is not calculated in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") to supplement its unaudited interim condensed consolidated financial statements presented on a GAAP basis. This non-GAAP financial measure is reconciled to its most directly comparable financial measure determined in accordance with GAAP as follows:

The Company's primary non-GAAP financial measure and corresponding metrics reflect how the Company evaluates the Company's current and prior year operating results. As new events or circumstances arise, these definitions could change. When the Company's definitions change, the Company provides the updated definitions. When items no longer impact the Company's current or future presentation of non-GAAP operating results, the Company removes these items from the Company's non-GAAP definitions.

Adjusted income from operations is a financial measure that is not calculated in accordance with GAAP (collectively referred to as the "non-GAAP financial measures"), and the use of the term adjusted income from operations may differ from similar measures reported by other companies and may not be comparable to other similarly titled measures. The Company believes the non-GAAP financial measure provides investors with useful information with respect to the Company's historical operations. The Company presents the non-GAAP financial measure as a supplemental performance measure because the Company believes it facilitates a comparative assessment of the Company's operating performance relative to the Company's performance based on the Company's results under GAAP, while isolating the effects of some items that vary from period to period. Specifically, adjusted income from operations allows the Company to assess the Company's performance without the impact of the specifically identified items that the Company believes do not directly reflect the Company's core operations, including acquisition-related costs and other items that management does not consider reflective of the Company's core operating performance. The non-GAAP financial measure also functions as a key performance indicator used to evaluate the Company's operating performance internally, and it is used in connection with the determination of incentive compensation for management, including executive officers.

Unprecedented Fish Sound Recordings Presented to the Library of Congress at Voices of the Ocean's Convening to Inspire Ocean Regeneration

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 6, 2026, Wave and Conservation Nation convened over 300 ocean leaders, scientists, innovators, conservationists and ocean-lovers at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., for Voices of the Ocean—an immersive evening celebrating the discoveries, ideas and people shaping the future of our ocean.

The evening included an unprecedented moment when FishEye Collaborative presented a collection of fish sounds from Hawai'i's coral reefs to the Library of Congress. The recordings represent the largest publicly accessible natural sound collection of fish species from the United States and from across the Pacific Ocean, to join the Library's historic inclusion of the original "Songs of the Humpback Whale" recordings.

Opening the evening via video-link, Her Royal Highness Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, Founder of Wave, said: "It is especially meaningful that we have gathered here to celebrate those who are dedicating their lives to understanding and protecting our ocean, and to amplify the ideas, discoveries and solutions that can help secure a healthy, thriving ocean for generations to come."

Doro Bush Koch, Co-founder of Conservation Nation, said: "What brought us together tonight is a shared love of the ocean and a belief that we can do something meaningful to protect it."

In the historic Coolidge Auditorium, the program featured guests from the depths of the ocean to the frontiers of marine science and innovation. Dr. Sylvia A. Earle, esteemed marine biologist, oceanographer, explorer and founder of Mission Blue, spoke about the power of exploration, conservation and collective action.

Wave Chief Scientist Professor Carlos Duarte explored the ocean's next frontier, examining how marine life is unlocking new possibilities for medicine and human health. Peabody Awardwinning science journalist Lulu Miller shared the remarkable story of a whale calf birth, accompanied by footage revealing the extraordinary communal behaviors of marine life.

Internationally bestselling author Sy Montgomery invited guests to see the ocean through a different lens, bringing the character, intelligence and spirit of marine animals to life.

The evening opened with a cinematic celebration of the ocean, featuring extraordinary footage by ocean filmmaker Matthew David Kaplan set to an original score by Alex Lustig. The program culminated in an immersive cinematic journey created by the next generation of ocean storytellers—filmmakers, photographers and marine biologists—accompanied by a live orchestra performance.

From Ocean Ideas to Ocean Innovation

The evening continued in the Library of Congress' Great Hall, where guests met the founders behind a new generation of ocean solutions.

Among them were Coastal Assembly, a public benefit corporation working to grow the world's coastlines; Coral Vita, pioneering new approaches to coral restoration; FishEye Collaborative, a conservation technology nonprofit using acoustic monitoring to help protect coral reefs and nearshore habitats; GRoW Reefs, developing reef-building products designed to accelerate native oyster reef restoration; and Room 71, an innovation studio at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution focused on advancing solutions emerging from ocean science and exploration.

Giving the Ocean a Voice

In the Great Hall, the presentation of fish sounds to the Library included new discoveries for these species. These recordings stand at the frontier of listening to animals and represent a mere glimpse of the myriad voices still to be discovered in the world's oceans. In 2010, the Library of Congress honored the 1970 "Songs of the Humpback Whale," recording that changed how Americans see the ocean. Today, by adding the first fish sounds to the Library's archives, the hope is that ocean voices will be valued, kept safe, and available to the world for study and wonder.

Voices of the Ocean brought together many perspectives, disciplines and generations around one shared message: the ocean's future depends on our ability to listen, learn, collaborate and act.

QA FAIL (need review): TARGET contains unsupported factual claims: it says attendees included 'investors' and that founders 'presented operational models to investors,' but SOURCE only mentions ocean leaders, scientists, innovators, conservationists and ocean-lovers. Additionally, TARGET says 'five organizations' presented but lists only four in that paragraph (FishEye Collaborative is omitted from the list), creating a factual mismatch.

AI's Next Infrastructure Challenge Is Power: DIGITIMES Examines the Shift Toward 800VDC Data Centers

TAIPEI, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As AI computing continues to scale, the infrastructure challenge is moving beyond processors. Rising rack-level power requirements are forcing data center operators, server makers, and semiconductor suppliers to rethink how electricity is delivered from the grid all the way to AI compute systems.

A new report from DIGITIMES Intelligence, "AI Data Center 800VDC Power Architecture Takes Shape; Future Hurdles Require Balancing Multiple Key Factors," examines how the emerging 800VDC architecture could reshape power delivery across next-generation AI data centers—and how the transition is creating new strategic questions for the semiconductor and infrastructure ecosystem.

Power Is Becoming Part of the AI Performance Equation. As AI systems become increasingly compute-intensive, power delivery is becoming a system-level design issue rather than simply a facility consideration. Higher-density AI racks require the industry to reconsider conversion efficiency, power density, system footprint, thermal management, and the overall path electricity takes before reaching GPUs and other accelerators.

DIGITIMES observes that the industry's transition toward higher-voltage DC architectures is accelerating changes across the power-delivery chain. The implications extend beyond data center design to power semiconductors, server systems, power conversion equipment, and the broader AI infrastructure supply chain.

800VDC Is Creating a New Power Semiconductor Battleground. The transition is also changing the role of power semiconductor technologies. Rather than pointing to a single winning technology, DIGITIMES' analysis shows that different device architectures are finding distinct roles across the AI power-delivery chain, depending on voltage, switching frequency, power density, efficiency, and system requirements.

This makes the evolution of GaN and SiC particularly important to watch. As AI server power architectures evolve, their respective technical characteristics are influencing how semiconductor suppliers position products across different stages of the power system.

Competition Will Extend Beyond Device Performance. As the architecture matures, DIGITIMES expects competition to extend beyond individual device specifications. The ability to work with server OEMs and ODMs, participate in system-level design, maintain supply stability, and respond quickly to rapidly changing AI platform requirements will become increasingly important.

A Supply Chain Shift Worth Watching, for data center operators, server manufacturers, power semiconductor suppliers, and investors tracking AI infrastructure, the shift toward 800VDC is more than a change in voltage. It represents a broader redesign of how power moves through AI infrastructure—and potentially a redistribution of value across the supply chain.

The DIGITIMES Intelligence report provides an in-depth examination of the evolving 800VDC architecture, the roles of key power semiconductor technologies, emerging vendor strategies, and the competitive factors that could shape the next stage of AI data center infrastructure.
