The Article Outlines How Couples Can Compare Catering Options Based on Food, Staffing, Costs, Communication, and Venue Needs

ROLLA, Mo., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What should you look for when choosing a wedding caterer? A HelloNation article provides the answer. Catering Expert Ryan P. Davis of Argyle Catering Company explains how couples can evaluate wedding catering services beyond food quality.

The article explains that experience is an important starting point when comparing caterers. A team familiar with weddings of a similar size and style may be better prepared for challenges involving large guest counts, outdoor settings, formal dinners, or buffet service.

According to the article, couples should also understand exactly what a catering company handles during an event. Some companies provide only food, while others handle servers, bartenders, rentals, table settings, setup, and cleanup. Reviewing the service style can help couples compare wedding catering costs more accurately.

The HelloNation article also highlights menu flexibility as an important consideration. Depending on their plans, couples may want customized dishes or established menu choices. Discuss dietary restrictions, food allergies, vegetarian selections, and children's meals early in the planning process.

Venue logistics can also shape the catering plan. The article notes that some wedding venues have commercial kitchens, while others provide limited preparation space. Couples should ask whether the caterer knows the venue and what additional equipment may be needed.

The article explains that strong wedding catering services should connect food preparation with staffing, timing, and venue requirements. A detailed catering quote can help couples understand whether the proposed cost includes service charges, gratuities, rentals, staffing, delivery, and cleanup.

Staffing levels can also affect the reception experience. The article suggests asking how many servers will work the event and whether an event manager will be present. Couples should also learn who will coordinate meal timing with the venue, wedding planner, and other vendors.

A wedding catering tasting offers another opportunity to evaluate a catering team. According to the article, couples can use the tasting to consider flavor, portion size, presentation, and whether the dishes match their expectations. It also offers a chance to discuss adjustments before the wedding.

Communication during that tasting can provide useful insight into how the planning process may proceed. The article notes that an organized caterer should be prepared to address serving methods, menu changes, dietary needs, and timing. Ryan P. Davis, the catering expert, is featured in the article.

The HelloNation article also advises couples to discuss how they'll handle changes. Guest counts can rise or fall, outdoor wedding plans may shift because of weather, and menu needs can change. Understanding deadlines and policies can help couples prepare as the event approaches.

Ultimately, the article explains that selecting wedding catering services requires considering several connected factors. Food quality is important, but organization, communication, staffing, budget, service style, and venue logistics can also affect how smoothly the reception runs. The guidance featuring Catering Expert Ryan P. Davis of Argyle Catering Company gives couples a practical framework for comparing these details.

"Choosing the Right Wedding Caterer for Your Event" features insights from Ryan P. Davis, a catering expert from Rolla, Missouri, on HelloNation.

VILNIUS, Lithuania, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cybersecurity company Surfshark – uniting an ecosystem of privacy and security brands such as Incogni, Ironwall, and HeyPolo – has announced a major expansion. The company has completed the acquisition of the majority stake of Optery, a US-based data removal company specializing in deleting personal information from search engine results, data brokers, and people-search sites. Brands will continue to operate as independent and autonomous companies.

Driven by the growing critical need for personal data control in an AI-driven landscape, the acquisition aligns with the group's strategic commitment to invest in top-tier privacy solutions and strengthen individual security against evolving digital threats. With Optery's deep US-market expertise and Incogni's global scale, we will be able to create an unmatched defense for everyday internet users."

Standalone operations and autonomous structure

While now part of the Surfshark, Optery will continue to operate as a standalone company. Incogni, Ironwall, and Optery will maintain separate teams, client bases, technical architectures, and features.

Optery becomes the second strategic acquisition for Surfshark. It follows the 2024 acquisition of Ironwall, a data-removal service dedicated to public sector officials, government employees, and executive teams.

BackBox Introduces the Kilter Platform, Bringing Responsible AI to Network Operations
Image File
Original HTML

As the industry races toward autonomous networks, Kilter by BackBox takes a deliberate approach, keeping NetSecOps in command of every decision.

DALLAS, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BackBox, a network cyber resilience company, today announced Kilter AI, the new AI-powered intelligence layer of its Network Cyber Resilience Platform, now named Kilter. Kilter AI arrives with a distinct perspective on where AI belongs in network management. While many in the industry are eager to hand over critical infrastructure to fully autonomous systems, BackBox developed Kilter AI based on a different principle: AI should serve as a trusted advisor rather than a robot on autopilot. This approach ensures that network operations and security teams (NetSecOps) maintain control.

Kilter AI is designed to mirror the BackBox principles for responsible AI, introduced in Oct. 2025. These principles emphasize trustworthiness, responsibility, safety, and security while delivering consistent, accurate results that improve over time. It keeps humans at the center of the decision-making process, treating AI as a trusted advisor rather than the sole decision-maker. Additionally, it is transparent about how it generates recommendations and the data it uses, ensuring that every stakeholder can understand and trust its output.

"BackBox enables customers to explore agentic NetSecOps at their own speed and understand how they want to use AI-powered solutions to manage their network infrastructure," said Rekha Shenoy, CEO of BackBox. "The built-in AI intelligence in Kilter AI leverages BackBox's sizable network infrastructure knowledge and automation library, providing new insights, recommendations, and automations that significantly enhance security and reduce manual work."

Why a Human-in-the-Loop Approach Matters

The stakes for getting AI right have never been higher. More than 48,000 new CVEs were published in 2025, a 20% increase from the previous year, and about 60% of breach victims cite a known, unpatched vulnerability. Mythos has given attackers the ability to exploit weaknesses in days instead of months or years. For NetSecOps teams managing too many tools across diverse environments with limited time and staff, the pressure to automate is intense, but handing over the network to a robot that no one can question only trades one risk for another.

Kilter AI is built to responsibly ease that pressure by accelerating work while keeping expert judgment involved. The demand is clear: 60% of IT leaders plan to implement AI-enabled predictive network automation within the next two years.

"Today's diverse network environments are becoming more complex," said Alexander Neubauer, Head of Network & Security, ACP IT Solutions GmbH. "BackBox stands out as an essential solution for collecting information on all our devices and allowing us to efficiently track inventory in a single centralized location. When new devices are added, tasks are automated to ensure compliance with our configuration policy."

Putting the Approach into Practice

Kilter AI provides a connected set of capabilities that guide teams from raw vulnerability data to actionable remediation, with human teams reviewing and approving before anything is implemented. These include:

- Enriched Data Aggregation: a single, normalized source of truth for network vulnerabilities that combines contextual CVE severity data from CISA, NVD, NIST, and vendor sources for accurate risk data on each device, allowing teams to quickly prioritize the greatest risks.

- CVE Workaround Insights: normalized workaround data with clear sources and links to vendor details to understand if a config change mitigates a CVE, reducing the need to patch or upgrade; plus, the ability to search configuration files to verify if action is needed on all affected devices.

- CVE Workaround to Chains: AI-curated workaround data transformed into intuitive, visual, executable chains that teams can review and adjust before running to automate CVE remediation, to streamline workflows, and reduce errors.

- Automation Creation Assistance: a unified interface that turns CLI input into production-ready, device-aware automations that teams can preview, save, execute, or reuse as backups, tasks, or IntelliChecks. Device knowledge is enough to get you started; there is no need to be a scripting expert.

One Platform, Three Layers

Kilter AI is the intelligence layer of the Kilter Platform, a single no-code foundation that unifies three layers for network resilience. Kilter ALM automates the device lifecycle — onboarding, backup and recovery, upgrades, and patching — across more than 180 vendors with 3,000+ pre-built automations. Kilter Enterprise handles compliance, policy, and network infrastructure integrity, from a configuration source of truth and hardening frameworks to vulnerability intelligence and change monitoring.

Where Kilter AI Is Headed

Kilter AI forms the foundation of BackBox's plan for agentic NetSecOps: networks that can reason, adapt, and act increasingly independently. BackBox will grow that autonomy one deliberate step at a time, building trust with each new capability so teams can delegate more tasks only as they feel comfortable.

BackBox is already earning early validation for its approach to AI, including recent recognition by the 2026 A.I. Awards for Best AI-driven Automation Solution and from Cyber Defense Magazine in the AI/ML for Cyber Resilience.

Availability

Kilter AI is available now as part of the Kilter Platform. To learn more about the product evolution, visit https://backbox.com/blog/introducing-kilter-ai-unified-ai-powered-network-cyber-resilience/.

More than 500 enterprises worldwide trust BackBox to keep their network infrastructure resilient. Its Kilter Platform unifies three layers on a single no-code foundation: Kilter ALM for automated lifecycle management — onboarding, backup and recovery, upgrades, and patching across 180+ vendors with 3,000+ pre-built automations; Kilter Enterprise for compliance, policy, and network infrastructure integrity; and Kilter AI, the intelligence layer that delivers trustworthy, human-in-the-loop insights, recommendations, and automation creation across the Platform. From backups and OS updates to compliance and vulnerability management, Kilter helps NetSecOps teams automate critical network processes, maintain business continuity during disruptions, and recover swiftly. Workforce Development Month shines a spotlight on workforce education and training

GREENVILLE, S.C., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As Upstate employers face growing demand for skilled workers in health care, advanced manufacturing, aviation, technology, skilled trades and other key industries, Greenville Technical College is helping build the talent pipeline that powers the region's economy.

From hospital floors and manufacturing facilities to airport hangars and technology companies, Greenville Tech graduates are filling critical needs, showing up for jobs with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to succeed in high-demand careers while helping employers address workforce needs.

"Workforce development is about creating opportunities for individuals while fulfilling our mission of reshaping communities through shared economic prosperity," said Dr. Candice Lewis, chief academic officer for Greenville Technical College. "With a graduate placement rate of 94%, meaning that our students are either employed in-field or continuing their education, Greenville Tech students are gaining skills that lead directly to meaningful careers, and employers are finding the talent they need to grow and innovate."

Through academic programs, workforce certificates, continuing education and customized training solutions, Greenville Tech works closely with business and industry partners to align education with current and future workforce needs. These partnerships ensure students graduate with skills that are relevant, practical and immediately applicable in the workplace.

For students, workforce development often means a direct pathway to economic mobility. Many graduates move directly from the classroom into careers that offer competitive wages, opportunities for advancement and long-term stability.

"Greenville Tech provides a powerful connection between education and employment," said Dr. Kelvin Byrd, chief economic development officer for Greenville Technical College. "By developing local talent, we're helping individuals build successful futures while supporting the workforce needs of employers across the Upstate."

Greenville Tech graduates power some of the Upstate's top employers, including BMW, Michelin, Lockheed Martin, Bon Secours Mercy Health, Prisma Health and many others.

Through its industry partnerships, Greenville Tech offers apprenticeship opportunities, clinical placements, internships and other valuable experiential learning opportunities that allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, helping them graduate ready to contribute from their first day on the job.

Internships are increasingly serving as a direct pathway to employment. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), employers converted 63.1% of interns into full-time hires in 2024-25, the highest rate in five years. Research also shows that internship experience significantly improves employment outcomes, with Forbes reporting that internships double the odds that a student secures a job before graduating from college.

For Greenville Tech graduate Carver Blassingame, the connection between education and employment began before graduation. Through the BMW Scholars Program, he gained hands-on experience, working alongside other professionals and developing skills directly aligned with workforce needs.

"Working at BMW for two years as a Greenville Tech student through the BMW Scholars Program allowed the company to get to know me and to build my skillset," Blassingame said. "When I graduated, I was able to move directly into a full-time position. Now I'm adding to my education with a bachelor's degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, a step that should qualify me for managerial roles."

"Preparing students for in-demand careers requires more than classroom instruction, and these collaborative efforts with local businesses expose students to workplace environments and emerging technologies while building professional skills and industry connections for our students," Byrd said.

The college continues to invest in programs designed to address South Carolina's most pressing workforce needs. Among these efforts is the recently opened Center for Welding and Automation Excellence (CWAE), which is expanding Greenville Tech's capacity to prepare skilled workers for careers in welding, automation, robotics and advanced manufacturing. The center was developed in response to growing employer demand for talent in fields that are critical to the region's manufacturing sector and overall economic competitiveness. In addition to offering the most advanced equipment to prepare students for successful careers, CWAE will also serve as a hub for continuing education for experienced workers to enhance their skills.

"CWAE is the largest and most advanced welding facility in the Southeast, boasting the country's only AI-powered welding lab," said Luke Hardaway, director of human resources, Vermeer MV Solutions. "This exciting addition to the Upstate's toolkit will support the growing needs of advanced manufacturing, helping companies like Vermeer succeed and grow."

Workforce Development Month provides an opportunity to highlight the students, graduates, employer partners, faculty, and workforce development professionals who are strengthening the Upstate's talent pipeline. Through innovative training programs, strategic industry partnerships, and investments such as the Center for Welding and Automation Excellence, Greenville Tech continues to play a leading role in preparing the skilled workforce that supports economic growth throughout the region.

Auburn Baseball, College of Education lab leverage data to develop athletes and researchers
Image File
Original HTML

AUBURN, Ala., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- At Auburn University's Plainsman Park, fans can catch a baseball game with elite collegiate athletes, and behind the scenes, research is being conducted within a School of Kinesiology laboratory. Student researchers in the College of Education's Sports Medicine and Movement Lab are collecting data on every hit and every pitch and translating that data into meaningful feedback for players and coaches.

Leading the work is Gretchen Oliver, professor and director of the Sports Medicine and Movement Laboratory, whose research focuses on injury prevention and performance enhancement in baseball and softball athletes, helping athletes stay healthy while playing at their highest level. Through a combination of lab-based analysis and real-time, on-field data collection, Oliver and her team are building a clearer picture of how pitching mechanics and workload impact the body — especially the shoulder and elbow.

"The Sports Medicine and Movement Lab utilizes three unique lab spaces that all contribute to our research profile," Oliver said. "We have what we call our in-house lab, which is housed in the Kinesiology Building. We've also expanded to have an in-game and in-bullpen lab at Plainsman Park, and those two locations are really helping us set ourselves apart with regard to baseball research and helping coaches make real-time adjustments for performance enhancement."

A LEADER IN THE FIELD

Cameras – hidden in plain sight – are the driving force behind the data at Plainsman Park. Markerless motion-capture data are collected on pitchers and hitters – both on the field and in the bullpen – with remarkable precision.

"Using the cameras, we are collecting data on every single pitch of every home game," Oliver said. "We're also collecting on every single swing of the bat."

Oliver added that her team's collaboration with Auburn Baseball is just as critical as the data collection work.

"It's not just what the lab is doing; it is a joint venture," she said. "I can tell you about the mechanics that I see from the data. However, our collaboration with the pitching coach, with Head Coach Butch Thompson, with all the support staff of the athletic trainers, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning, allows us to make a difference in player development. We can focus our data on each individual athlete."

What kind of insights can student researchers glean from the data? Using advanced statistical modeling, Oliver said her team can compare mechanics, monitor fatigue, identify potential injury risks, and assess athlete development. Using their expertise in data analysis, researchers in the Sports Medicine and Movement Lab are continuously developing new methods and metrics to better target player development and injury prevention.

"We are collecting enormous amounts of data between our three lab spaces," Oliver said. "But it's just data. It really takes the knowledge and training of our students to turn the data into usable information that can help us move forward in assisting athletes. Much of the work being done by my students mimics what is happening on baseball's biggest stage: Major League Baseball."

For Auburn Baseball, this partnership supports athlete development and has contributed to the program's success, especially in pitching.

"Auburn's baseball biomechanics program through the School of Kinesiology is one of the top programs in the country in large part to Dr. Oliver," said Auburn Baseball Pitching Coach Everett Teaford. "Her reputation in the baseball community makes her program one of the most sought-after degrees. Because of her reputation, she has been able to attract extremely high-level students to Auburn that have been a massive part of our success."

IDENTIFYING INJURIES

Oliver's lab takes a specialized approach, focusing exclusively on the biomechanics of baseball and softball. For baseball players — particularly pitchers — the repetitive stress placed on the arm presents a significant area of concern — with injuries most experienced in the elbow. In softball, injuries are more prevalent in the shoulder.

By analyzing how forces move through the body during pitching, Oliver's research aims to identify inefficiencies and high-risk movement patterns before they lead to injury. The ultimate goal is to help athletes build safer, more sustainable mechanics.

"We do this by making sure that we have solid mechanics from the ground up," she said, again noting how a defining feature of the Sports Medicine and Movement Laboratory is its close collaboration with coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and sports medicine professionals.

"We work with coaches and really listen to understand what the coach and athlete need, and then we look at our complex data set and translate it for them, where within one sentence it makes sense," she said.

DATA AND HEALTHCARE: BRIDGING THE GAP

That translational piece doesn't stop with coaches, athletes and team support staff, though. Oliver frequently works alongside healthcare professionals and physicians to help them better understand how these injuries are occurring and how her team's published research is moving toward better sports medicine options for youth through collegiate athletes.

For students and researchers working in the lab, this environment offers a unique opportunity to see how academic research can directly inform real-world decision-making.

Beyond its impact on current athletes, Oliver's work is helping prepare the next generation of professionals in biomechanics and sports medicine. She emphasizes the importance of curiosity and a willingness to learn across disciplines.

"If my students have an intellectual curiosity about this work, they're going to want to learn as much as they can," she said. "I encourage them to study our research data, going back 15 years, and look for research questions that they want to solve. That is how we keep moving forward and how we continue to become better every day – by continuing to look at what we know and what we don't know and finding ways to bridge the gap."

IMPACTING THE INDUSTRY

Graduates from Oliver's lab are working across the country in academic, athletic and research settings to continue to build upon the knowledge they learned at Auburn.

"I have former students serving in roles across MLB, including with the Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, and Florida Marlins, in addition to alumni who are working in the biomechanics industry and in university settings, both conducting research and working with collegiate athletics organizations," Oliver said. "Seeing my students succeed at such a high level motivates me to continue to invest in students and this work."

At its core, Oliver's research is driven by a simple but powerful goal: keeping athletes healthy and engaged in the sports they love.

"You want the kid to have fun," she said. "We want to identify ways to keep kids healthy at a young age so they can continue to have fun and participate in sports. When injuries sideline kids at a young age, they are likely to face more problems down the road, and that's what we're hoping to prevent."

Through innovative technology and collaborative partnerships, the School of Kinesiology in Auburn's College of Education is advancing the science of movement for the betterment of athletes — right where research meets the field.

"My passion for this research started with figuring out why athletes have the injuries they have and wanting to find a way to mitigate those injuries," Oliver said. "That passion has grown into an understanding that we can do both: advance the research that informs the field of sports medicine, while also ensuring athletes can stay in the game longer – injury free and with optimal performance."

NATIONAL ATTENTION

After Auburn Baseball's Super Regional run in 2026, and a pitching staff that was ranked among the best in the country, the partnership between Auburn Baseball and the Sports Medicine & Movement Lab is garnering national attention. Auburn University's NCAA Public Service Announcement, shown during athletics events throughout the year, will feature the collaboration between student researchers and athletes. Selected as one of only five Auburn programs to be featured, the partnership is an exemplary illustration of what can be accomplished through interdisciplinary work.
